COVID19 update for Fall season

26 Apr 2020 by Coach Julie De Widt -Bakker

We have been receiving questions from parents and cheerleaders on what will happen to the fall season. Allow me to update you in this email on how we are preparing for this season. For your convenience, I have added a short version with the highlights and a longer read version with some more context.

It goes without saying that we are bumped we can’t provide you with clarity, but one thing is for sure. The coaches, volunteers and I can’t wait to see the cheerleaders again.

In short:
- We are planning on having a cheer fall season.
- We are closely aligned to the Eastlake football league and will follow the guidance from health authorities.
- We are working on determining what measures we should take to prevent the spread of COVID-19
- PLEASE register for the new Fall season, so we have an accurate head count. Use the ‘pay per check’ option. If you have already registered and paid, we will provide refunds if the season is indeed cancelled. Don’t forget to send the concussion training, stunt liability and cheerleader pledge form as well per email to Eastlakewolvescheer@hotmail.com. Issues with registration, please reach out to Jennie johnson

Long version:
- We are planning on having a cheer fall season. Like with football, cheer is a high contact sport. We do not have a final baked plan on what will happen with cheer camp in August, our stunt training, or the uniform fitting. But the football league is exploring scenarios such as starting the season a bit later or having a shortened season or allowing a normal season but with extra precautions.
- We are closely aligned to the Eastlake football league and will follow the guidance from health authorities. There is no cheer without football and no football without cheer. Please note that we will be following the guidance of the Greater Eastside Junior Football Association as well as the Washington State Cheer Coaches Association.
- We are working on determining what measures we should take to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This could include the sanitation of all facilities, mats etc. before/after practices, non-contact activities for the first two weeks of practices and temperature monitoring before/after practices.
- PLEASE register for the new Fall season, so we have an accurate head count. Use the ‘pay per check’ option on the left as the preferred payment option. Even if the tool says you are not registered until you have paid, please ignore. If you want to double check whether your cheerleader is registered or you have questions on registration, please reach out to Jennie Johnson (jenniealita2@hotmail.com) and she can support. If you have paid in full, we will provide refunds if the season is indeed cancelled. Don’t forget to complete the required concussion training, stunt liability and cheerleader pledge and send these to Eastlakewolvescheer@hotmail.com.

We miss you, we miss seeing cheerleaders in our day to day routine, but ABOVE all – we want you to stay safe and healthy.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions. I am supported by an amazing team of coaches that are helping me to answer all the questions you might have.
